Aurora 38 named Boat of the Year

The judges called her “the rare 38-footer that behaves like a 50 in a seaway and parks like a 25.” We call her the boat we always intended to build.

The Aurora 38 took Boat of the Year on the strength of her offshore manners — a CE B rating carried lightly on twin 380 hp diesel sterndrives — and an interior that sleeps six without asking anyone to compromise. Judges spent two days aboard in a building Gulf chop and came back talking about the helm seat and the tank baffling, which is roughly the compliment a boatbuilder wants.

Every Aurora leaves Pensacola with her full parts bill of materials already in the dealer network: every component orderable by serial number, every one covered by the five-year hull warranty. Awards are pleasant. That discipline is the point.
