NORTHWIND MARINE

Privacy policy

When you shop with Northwind Marine, you trust us with your information. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what data we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it.

This matters for two reasons: keeping your personal data safe, and being straight with you about how we and our authorised dealers use it when you register a hull, book a sea trial or order parts.

This Privacy Policy applies to the following domains:

1. Personal Information - What we collect and why

We offer certain site features, services, applications, and tools that are available only through the use of the following tracking technologies. You are always free to block, delete, or disable these technologies if your browser, installed application, or device so permits. However, if you decline cookies or other similar technologies, you may not be able to take advantage of certain site features, services, applications, or tools.

Generally, these technologies allow our sites, services, applications, and tools to store relevant information in your browser or device and later read that information in order to identify you to our servers or internal systems. Where applicable, we protect our cookies and other similar technologies to help ensure that only we and/or our authorised service providers can interpret them by assigning them a unique identifier that is designed for interpretation only by us.

This website collects and uses personal information for the following reasons:

1.1. Website analytics

Like most websites, this site uses a web analytics service to track how visitors interact with it. We use this data to understand how many people use the site, how they find and move through our pages, and where the boat-finder and parts catalogue are working well or badly.

Although analytics records data such as your general geographical location, device, browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. Analytics also records your IP address, which could be used to identify you, but we are not granted access to it. We consider our analytics provider to be a third party data processor (see section 2 below).

Disabling cookies in your browser will stop analytics from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.

1.2. Tag management

We are constantly trying to improve the experience on our website by making the fleet pages, fitment search and parts catalogue more relevant to what you are actually looking for. To do this we use a tag management service.

Tag management is a small snippet of code that helps us record which parts of the site are used and pass that data to our analytics account, where it is organised for us to review for potential site improvements. We consider our tag management provider to be a third party data processor (see section 2 below).

1.3. Dealer referral

Northwind Marine sells boats through an authorised dealer network, so some of the information you give us is passed to a dealer in order to answer you at all.

When you request a sea trial, ask for a quote on a build, or submit a warranty registration, the details you provide - your name, contact details, location, and the hull or model you asked about - are forwarded to the Northwind dealer nearest the address you give us, so that they can contact you directly. Dealers are contractually required to use that information only to respond to your enquiry and to service your boat.

If you would rather we did not pass your details to a dealer, say so in the message field of the form, or contact us using the details below, and we will handle the enquiry centrally instead. You may withdraw consent to dealer referral at any time by contacting us.

Contact information:

Northwind Marine, Inc.
850 Bayfront Parkway

1.4. Contact, quote and sea-trial forms

Should you choose to use the contact form, request a sea trial, or submit a warranty registration, your information will be stored in our order management system and collated into an email sent to us over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).

The information contained in that email is transferred onwards to our dealer CRM system. From there the data is attached to any existing account with a matching email address, or else created as a new contact record so that your dealer and our service desk can see the same history.

All data obtained from any website form is subject to a minimum yearly review, where inactive data - or data belonging to inactive contacts - may be deleted from our systems.

1.5. Email newsletter

If you choose to join our email newsletter, the email address you submit will be forwarded to our email service provider, who provides us with email marketing services. We consider them to be a third party data processor (see section 2 below).

In addition, your email address will be stored in our order management system and in our dealer CRM system. It is stored there until you unsubscribe, after which it is retained only as a suppression record so that we do not email you again by mistake.

Our newsletters will keep you posted on new models and model-year changes, service campaigns and safety recalls affecting hulls like yours, parts and provisioning offers, and dealer events near you. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the bottom of every email, and doing so will never affect warranty cover or your ability to order parts.
